Background of the Study
As the digital landscape continues to evolve, students, particularly those in secondary schools, are exposed to various online threats such as cyberbullying, identity theft, and phishing attacks. In Minna, Niger State, like in many other regions, secondary school students are becoming increasingly reliant on the internet for educational and social purposes. However, this growing dependence on digital platforms has raised concerns about the lack of adequate cybersecurity awareness among students.
Cybersecurity awareness is the knowledge and understanding of the potential cybersecurity threats individuals may face, and the actions they can take to protect themselves and their data. Educating students on the risks associated with digital technologies and the best practices for protecting their online privacy is essential for reducing the vulnerability of the younger population to cyber threats. This study aims to investigate the level of cybersecurity awareness among secondary school students in Minna, Niger State, and to explore factors that may influence their understanding of online security.
